Application of RFID Technology in the Clothing Industry

In the clothing industry, more and more businesses are beginning to use a technology called “RFID”. It is actually a small tag that can “identify identity”. Don’t underestimate its small size. It can help us find clothes quickly, know who made the clothes, what materials they are made of, and make it faster to check out when buying clothes.

How does RFID help manage clothes?

Automatically record inventory, save time and be accurate
In the past, workers in the warehouse had to count clothes one by one, which was very time-consuming and prone to errors. Now with RFID technology, you can know how many clothes there are, where they are placed, and whether there are any shortages by just scanning with a handheld scanner. For example, when a batch of clothes is delivered to the warehouse, the RFID reader at the entrance will automatically check the quantity, without the need for manual verification.

Automatic replenishment, no fear of out-of-stock
The system will always keep an eye on the inventory quantity. If a certain size or color of clothes is running out, it will automatically remind the warehouse or store to replenish it to ensure that the shelves are not empty.

RFID can also make shopping easier

The fitting room can also “remember what you tried”
When you take a few clothes into the fitting room to try them on, the RFID device on the wall can quietly record which ones you tried. In this way, the merchant can know which styles are more popular and put them in a more conspicuous position for more people to see.

No need to scan the code one by one at checkout
In stores with RFID tag, the machine on the checkout counter can identify all the goods you take at the same time. You don’t have to take them out one by one to scan the code. The whole process only takes a few seconds, which saves time and does not require queuing.

RFID can also help prevent theft

RFID readers are also installed at the exit of the store. If someone wants to take the clothes out without paying, the machine at the door will automatically alarm and remind the clerk. This can reduce theft and make the merchant lose less money.

How are RFID tags made?
Common RFID clothing tags on the market, such as a paper tag with a size of 100mm × 15mm and a UHF chip (such as Impinj R6 or H9), usually work at a frequency of 860-960MHz, with a reading distance of 5-10 meters, and can read multiple pieces of clothing at the same time.

These tags are also resistant to high temperatures and water washing, suitable for sewing on clothes or hanging on tags, and are not easy to break. They can be widely used in:
